Things I learned on Vacation

My family and I just returned from our *life trip* to Japan, a dream I'd maintained since before I had children--bringing them to that wonderful country one day. Now that the eldest boy is getting ready for college, it was the time, despite rising gas prices. Amid all the usual terrific sights, sites, sounds and food, I re-learned some important things. 1. The Journey Is Everything. 2. Do everything as best you can--even the smallest thing. 3. Courtesy counts and is meaningful, always. (Been to Best Buy lately? "Howyadoin" with no care, no eye contact...) 4. Don't look at monkeys directly in the face. (More on that another time, perhaps, but none the less and important one!)
